Privacy Notice:
This notice applies to any information you provide on any application or submission in relation to opportunities, registrations or opt-ins and any other information we receive about you or you provide to us.
What information do we collect?
We may collect and process the following data about you;
- Information which you provide to us in the course of advising and dealing with you as a customer
- Information provided to us by external agencies, intermediaries or others who have referred you to Compete North East or BE-NE for assistance
- In addition, calls may be recorded for training and quality assurance purposes only.
What happens to the information?
The Information will be used for the following purposes:
- To help your business: we will use your information to provide business support services and to offer you advice on you
- To send you further information: if you have opted in to receive further information from us, Business & Enterprise North East, Business Link and One North East.
- For customer satisfaction monitoring: Information about you will be passed to a third party organisation who may contact you to obtain your views on the service you have received including customer satisfaction.
We also use your Information to:
- Measure the quality of our services and improve them
- Better understand the local business market
- Help us to service customers’ needs more effectively.
- Ensure we meet our targets and other contractual commitments; and
- Prevent and detect fraud.
Who else will receive the information?
One NorthEast, the Regional Development Agency for the North East of England, (ONE). We are funded by ONE, which has a right to the Information you supply and will use it for the same purposes we do and also for, research and analysis, performance management and monitoring, auditing, improving business support services, promotion of public service principles such as non-discrimination.
ONE supplies us with core funding, supplementary funding and European funding. If ONE’s funding to Compete North East terminates or expires, ONE will disclose the Information to a new provider. Further details of ONE’s use of Information can be found in ONE’s Privacy Code at www.onenortheast.co.uk.
Auditors
As well as the employees, officers, auditors and other agents of BE-NE, the Secretaries of State, the European Commission, the European Court of Auditors, the National Audit Office, ONE, the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) and the Adult Learning Inspectorate (and any successor to any of the foregoing bodies) may examine, audit or copy the Information contained in any document or record (whether paper or electronic) relating to the services provided to you.
Business support organizations referring clients to Compete North East
We will usually share your Information, both core details and details of our interactions with you, with any business support organisation which referred you to us, in order for them to see the outcome of the referral.

Business Link may also use this information, in accordance with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998, to:
(a) Provide you with access to and take action in respect of CompeteFor;
(b) Contact you in connection with CompeteFor, the Opportunities, other business opportunities, and other business support advice and information;
(c) Evaluate the CompeteFor service
(d) Monitor diversity; and
(e) Target resources.
