Compete North East combines expertise, skills and experience and works with both procurement professionals and within the business community; proactively finding opportunities, facilitating collaboration and developing businesses capacity to supply. Our success and what differentiates us is underpinned by the practical and personal approach the team takes when building relationships and delivering support.

For the last two and a half years, Compete North East has helped North East SMEs maximise business opportunities related to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, resulting in over £52million worth of Olympic contracts being awarded to businesses in the region.

Compete North East is the lead organisation promoting London 2012 and associated supply chain opportunities in the North East. We continue to source and promote Olympic business opportunities related to the development of the Olympic Park and Legacy Programme as well as making businesses aware of local opportunities to supply the Olympic football fixtures being held at Newcastle’s St James’ Park, Cultural Olympiad events and live screening sites across the region.

Since its launch, the service has grown to cover other active and emerging opportunities nationally, such as the Crossrail project, Olympic Legacy programme and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and regionally, including local authority procurement, construction contractor buying and social housing providers. We are recognised as the North East’s prime access point for public and private sector procurement opportunities and tender support.

We have also established ourselves as the delivery partner of choice for public and private sector purchasing organisations and commissioners in supplier engagement and development. We provide easy access to a high quality supply chain of potential new suppliers, broadening access to innovative and niche services and helping buyers satisfy corporate social responsibilities whilst also providing access to a wider range of new business opportunities to suppliers of all sizes, across all sectors.
