As of the 31st March, Compete North East’s role working in promoting London 2012 Olympic opportunities will be complete. Compete North East’s business opportunity matching service, buyer engagement and promoting the development of tender writing and contract management skills to North East businesses will continue under the Business Generator service.

Since launching in 2009 we are proud to report that Compete North East have helped over 2000 North East businesses maximise opportunities relating to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and have directly helped businesses to win £53million worth of contracts from this activity.

Business & Enterprise Group continue to be involved with a wide range of other projects, both nationally and regionally to help SMEs in the North East access thousands of new business opportunities. The value to the region of this new business has been a further £85 million.
